The Trinity Journal of Literary Translation is delighted to present ‘Verbal Visual’, Maxwell Theatre, Hamilton Building, TCD on Wednesday February 3rd at 6pm.
Expanding on the concept of ‘translation’, ‘Verbal Visual’ is an event which will explore the notion of cross-disciplinary exchange and responses between visual and verbal artistic mediums as a form of artistic translation. The event aims to provide an introduction to perspectives on ekphrasis (the re-presentation of visual art in literature) from academic, curatorial, and practically creative standpoints. Dr. Tom Walker of TCD and curator Janet McLean will discuss and provide insight into the study, management and process of ekphrasis and cross-disciplinary exchange. We will also hear from Aaron Smyth, D. Joyce-Ahearne, Anna Walsh, Andrew Hopkins and Michael Naughton Shanks, a panel of participants in the recent Cave Paintings project, on their practical engagement with verbal-visual and visual-verbal transmediation.
Join us at 6pm on Wednesday the 3rd of February in the Maxwell Theatre, Hamilton Building, Trinity College Dublin.
